Imerys, the world leader in mineral-based specialty solutions, has completed the acquisition of Regain Polymers Ltd, a major plastic recycler.

Regain becomes part of Imerys Performance Additives Division. It will be combined with Imerys’s existing waste polyolefin compatibilisation business. This combined capacity makes Imerys one of Europe’s largest polyolefin recyclers.

Regain’s capabilities and expertise in the washing, sorting and production of flakes from post-consumer plastics compliment Imerys’s mixed polyolefin compatibilisation activity, marketed as ImerPlast™.

Both companies have extensive knowledge about compounding and applications. Imerys’s laboratory, technical facilities and mineral portfolio will help widen the market offer, adding value to customers’ businesses and allowing for future developments.

This acquisition provides the basis for Imerys’s future investment in higher value applications for recycled polymers across the construction, packaging, automotive, horticulture and industrial sectors. It highlights Imerys’s commitment to the environment, sustainability and the circular economy business model.
