In a world where sustainability and environmental responsibility are becoming increasingly important, Luxus and Loadhog have forged a unique partnership that exemplifies the principles of closed-loop plastic recycling. Through this collaboration, they are not only reducing waste but also promoting a circular economy by giving new life to used packaging materials.
Loadhog is a leading designer and manufacturer of innovative, reusable packaging products. The company encourages its customers to return old containers and totes through its Swap Out Scheme. This initiative aims to keep valuable materials in use for longer, reducing the need for virgin materials and minimising waste.
Enter Luxus, the plastic recycling experts. With its technical expertise and state-of-the-art facilities, it plays a crucial role in ensuring that the broken totes from Loadhog’s customers are transformed into high-quality recycled materials, ready for reuse.
The Luxus Recycling Process: How Does This Work?
1. Delivery of Broken Totes: Luxus receives delivery of broken totes from Loadhog’s customers. These containers have been used in the supply chain for years and are now ready to be replaced.
2. Shredding and Grinding: The products go through our advanced shredding process, where they are ground down to the correct size. The plastic goes through our specialised shredders, ensuring precise material preparation.
3. Preparation for Mixing: The ground material is carefully bagged and sent over to our Technical Centre, ready for the critical mixing phase.
4. Mixing and Blending: Luxus’ experienced technicians meticulously mix and blend the recycled ground plastic with precise additives and colourings. This step ensures that the final material grade meets Loadhog’s exacting specifications.
5. Batch Production: Once the correct measurements and formulations are set, Luxus can efficiently produce larger batches of the recycled material blend.
6. Transportation to Loadhog: The new recycled material blend, tailored to Loadhog’s requirements, is now ready for transportation – either in material bags or directly into the silos at the Loadhog factory.
Loadhog: Bringing the Recycled Materials to Life
7. Material Preparation: At Loadhog’s factory, the recycled material is fed through pipes to each machine. Coloured masterbatch is added at this stage to create customer orders.
8. Moulding and Shaping: The material pellets are melted at high heat and injected into the mould to form the shape of the product.
9. Branding and Labelling: The container is placed onto a digital printing machine to add customer logos and branding. The product is also labelled to help customers keep track of their goods throughout the supply chain.
10. Final Assembly: Secured hinge pin lids are attached to the base of the container, increasing security for the customers’ products.
11. Shipping and Reuse: The newly manufactured containers, made from recycled materials, are now ready to be shipped to customers for reusable use within their supply chain.
