The British Plastics Federation (BPF) has announced the launch of its new Plastics Recycling and Sustainability (PRAS) Conference, taking place on 9th July 2026 at the iconic Wave Building, University of Sheffield and is free to attend.

The free-to-attend event has already attracted significant interest from across the UK plastics supply chain, with more than 350 delegates booked to attend and 10 exhibitors confirmed, making it one of the UK’s most anticipated plastics sustainability and recycling events of the year.

Bringing together senior decision-makers, sustainability specialists, recyclers, manufacturers, academics, and industry experts, PRAS will provide a unique platform for learning, collaboration, and networking as the sector continues its transition towards a more circular and sustainable future.

The event is kindly sponsored by The Worshipful Company of Horners and Innovate UK Business Connect.

The seminar programme features two dedicated content streams focused on the industry’s most important challenges and opportunities:

Recycling Stream

Confirmed presentations include:

  • Trends in Recycled Polymer presented by S&P Global
  • How AI Can Work for Recycling Companies in the UK presented by Jonathan Attwood, Head of Technical and Quality at IPL Bright Green

The recycling stream will conclude with a panel discussion exploring ‘How to Stimulate Investment in the UK Recycling Sector’, bringing together industry leaders to discuss the future growth of domestic recycling infrastructure.

Sustainability Stream

Confirmed presentations include:

  • Building a Sustainable Future Through Plastics delivered by Professor Tony Ryan of the University of Sheffield
  • How to Promote Your Sustainability Wins Without Greenwashing presented by Dr Robin Kent of Tangram Technology

The sustainability stream will finish with a panel discussion focused on Educating Your Staff on Sustainability, examining how businesses can embed sustainability thinking throughout their organisations.

Alongside the conference programme, delegates will have extensive opportunities to network with peers, suppliers and industry leaders throughout the day. A dedicated exhibition area featuring 10 exhibitors will showcase products, services and innovations supporting the future of plastics sustainability and recycling.

Commenting on the launch of the event, Stephen Hunt, Membership Services Director at the British Plastics Federation, said:

“Recycling and sustainability are now central to the future success of the UK plastics industry. PRAS has been created to bring together the expertise, innovation and practical experience that exists across our sector. The response from industry has been outstanding, with more than 350 delegates already registered and strong exhibitor support. We are looking forward to welcoming the plastics community to Sheffield for what promises to be an insightful, collaborative and valuable day.”

The BPF-hosted PRAS Conference will run from 9.45 am to 3.20 pm on 9th July 2026.
