Echo Packaging Chooses Intelicare for New Cooling System

Intelicare has received a glowing review from valued customer Echo Packaging, having recently commissioned a Frigosystem Corema cooling system for a brand-new compounding facility.

Intelicare specifies, supplies, installs and maintains products and services in the UK and Ireland on behalf of its European partners. It is the UK supplier for Frigosystem Corema, chiller manufacturers with a worldwide reputation, offering robust industrial chillers and temperature control for various plastics processes.

The chiller, a Frigosystem RACA PLUS ENERGY model, has 350 kW of cooling power at 15°C, is suitable for over 2000 kg/hr throughput, and has also been equipped with integral free cooling without causing an over-dimension of the footprint. This integrated free cooling allows for process water at the required temperature with ambient air alone, bypassing the need for energy-intensive compressors, providing a huge potential cost-saving benefit.

Kishan Nanji, Director at Echo Packaging, said: “As an expanding business working with the right partners is very important. With Intelicare, the time was taken to understand all our requirements and they delivered on every promise, making the whole experience from quotation to final start-up achilled out project.

Phil Jones, Technical Director at Intelicare, added: “This is an interesting and exciting venture for Intelicare to be a part of. The equipment we have supplied and commissioned is for a long-standing customer of Intelicare and Frigosystem, with several specialist Frigosystem blown film cooling technologies on their extrusion lines.

“It is testament to the quality and efficiency of Frigosystem industrial chillers, and we are proud that Echo Packaging has chosen to continue our collaboration.”

In keeping with the sustainable nature of the new line, energy efficiency was of paramount importance to Echo Packaging and the chiller is equipped with several energy and cost-saving features in mind:

  • The use of efficient refrigerant gas R410a
  • A pump skid with a pump to provide flow between the chiller and an integral fully insulated reservoir
  • Two process circuits, each with a pump
  • One of these process circuits is controlled by a proportional valve to allow a different temperature to that provided by the chiller

Echo Packaging also opted for ‘RC,’ a remote panel allowing all operations and displays from indoors.

Phil concluded: “Like many UK manufacturers, the customer is looking to the future and considering sustainability in terms of both their business and the environment by opting to install this equipment to benefit the circular economy.

By investing to recycle plastic waste, they are ensuring a plentiful supply of feedstock which benefits their own production and as well as creating a product for others to use.”
