Great Central Plastics Hosts Inaugural Open Day

On Thursday 19th October Great Central Plastics marked an exciting milestone in its history by opening the doors for its first-ever Open Day. The team welcomed 16 personally invited guests from a number of different companies, offering a rare behind-the-scenes look at their innovative processes and eco-friendly initiatives. With engaging activities, informative showcases, and delicious food, it was a day to remember.

Getting to Know Great Central Plastics

The GCP team pride themselves on their commitment to quality and innovation within the field of injection moulding. This open day gave guests the opportunity for an inside look into the company operations. For the first time ever, guests were invited to witness the entire production process, from creating mould tools to injection moulding final products. This provided valuable insights into the meticulous craftsmanship and advanced technology that drives Great Central Plastics.

Hands-On Experience

One of the highlights of the Open Day was the hands-on experience offered to guests. They had the chance to hot tip foil their own embossed drinks coasters, showcasing GCP’s ability to offer customisation and quality to injection moulded products. This activity gave attendees a taste of the intricate and creative side of an injection moulder.

Eco-Friendly Material Showcase

At Great Central Plastics, they understand the importance of environmental sustainability. They showcased some of their most popular eco-friendly materials, emphasising our commitment to responsible production and product choices. Guests were informed about some of the interesting facts relating to its eco material offerings:

  • ‘Chewing gum takes up to 5 years to biodegrade.’
  • ‘1 pallet of material is the equivalent of approx. 22 fridges.’
  • ‘About 15% of the earths crust is made of limestone.’
Games and Prizes

Three games were organised to make the day as engaging as possible, each with prizes for the winners. The games included the “GumTec Shootout,” which tested participants’ accuracy in a free throw style game, “Pellet to Product,” a fun game demonstrating the scale of manufacturing that can be achieved from 1 pallet of material, and “Guess the Ink Pots in the Jar,” a simple contest that received a wide range of guesses!

Pizzas all round!

Guests were well-fed and refreshed during the Open Day. A make-to-order pizza station was set up for lunch, catering to various dietary preferences. Additionally, the company’s own bar was in operation, offering a variety of beverages whilst networking.

Great Central Plastics’ first-ever Open Day was a resounding success, offering guests a unique glimpse into the world of plastic injection moulding. From showcasing their manufacturing processes and eco-friendly materials to engaging games and delicious food, the event combined education and entertainment.
