The Wittmann Group has booked its biggest exhibition space yet, at the triennial K 2025 plastics show in Düsseldorf this coming October. Industry 4.0 issues and themes are certain to be woven through all of the technology innovations on the stand.

The Wittmann company was early to the Industry 4.0 party, quickly christening its offering as Wittmann 4.0 and reaching out to partners in Manufacturing Execution Software (MES) systems to provide injection moulders with a complete and connected production system.

The company sees itself in an incredibly unique position within the injection moulding industry as the only company worldwide able to fully integrate all of our auxiliary equipment (robots, material handling, dryers, granulators and blenders) – and use all such data to optimise the performance of the customer’s work cell.’

Wittmann 4.0 is no different to the generic term – standing for the synthesis and networking of technology in an Internet of objects, services and data – integrating, directing and improving manufacturing systems to be able to offer quick, flexible responses to customer demands.

Wittmann 4.0 provides transparency, traceability, productivity and process management – not only for the profits of business owners but also in more accurate servicing of the needs of their customers and beyond.

Wittmann’s MES partner TEMI + connects the moulding machine to all ancillary equipment, and any alterations in the composition of the moulding cell are recognised automatically within the cell, with all technology placed on a secure and digital platform.

UK injection moulders such as Dr Stephen Pepper’s Rugby Plastics are leading the way in the adoption of Wittmann 4.0 technology. Indeed, Rugby Plastics operates the most advanced integrated cell of its kind in the UK – a SmartPower 120 that is 4.0 integrated with a Wittmann five-axis beam robot, Gravimetric weigh and blending system, twin desiccant dryer, twin water temperature controller and FlowCon Mould regulation control.

The connected Temi+ MES system acts with this system as a production planning and monitoring facility, integrating data capture, cell monitoring, KPIs, machine status and tooling scheduling.

Further K Show Wittmann innovations in 4.0 technology are expected to be unveiled and previewed for the media in mid-September 2025.
