The Wittmann Group’s ‘one stop shop’ for injection moulding means that several ancillary technologies – automation, water flow regulators, temperature control- have been fine-tuned for decades to get the most from the injection moulding process.
Such is also the case with Wittmann’s granulator range, Screenless, beside, and under-the-press granulator models offer tailored solutions for every moulding solution.
Wittmann’s new screenless S Max 2 versions, for example, have lately seen some well-documented case studies with customers worldwide. Some S Max investments, for example, have put moulders into pure profit after a repayment period of just six months.
Meanwhile, the Wittmann G-Max XL was launched this time last year as the company’s large-size blade granulator for regrinding parts up to 50cm x 20cm in size.
The open design of the 3-blade cutting rotor makes the G-Max XL ideal for grinding heat-sensitive materials that still contain heat from processing. Open spaces between the blades and the rotor shaft ensure the best ventilation and, therefore, good cooling. The rotating and fixed blades, which are angled in opposite directions, ensure a clean scissor cut.
The G-Max XL is driven by three V-belts, which ensure optimal torque and a low speed of 340 rpm at 50 Hz. At this speed, hardly any particles are carried around the rotor, allowing them to pass through the screen in an optimal manner.
The result is a significantly cleaner and more uniform regrind as well as optimised throughput – with the lowest possible noise development and low energy consumption. The sound-insulated material hopper further reduces the noise level.
The G-Max XL can be used beside the moulding press or as a central granulator for a number of machines. Blade design, management of dust and ‘fines’, noise reduction, torque management and product safety – these are all factors in granulator production that Wittmann has innovated with over the past thirty years.
Wittmann’s largest ever stand at the upcoming K Show in October will inevitably present a number of complete production lines, all of which are likely to include granulation and recycling elements as part of their operations.
