Biesterfeld has announced the appointment of Burkhard Zimmermann as Global Director Digital and IT, strengthening the company’s digital transformation strategy. Bringing more than 25 years of experience in the chemical and polymer materials industry, Zimmermann will lead Biesterfeld’s global digital initiatives when he joins the business on 1st April 2026.
Burkhard Zimmermann holds a PhD in Chemistry and has more than 25 years of experience driving operational excellence through digitalisation in the global chemical and polymer materials industry. He is a seasoned IT and digitalisation leader with a strong track record of successfully leading international projects in strategy development and execution, restructuring, as well as project and program management (PMO). Throughout his career, Burkhard has worked for global market leaders such as Bayer and Covestro. Most recently, he was responsible, as Senior Director Strategic PMO at Domo Chemicals, for key initiatives focused on efficiency and transformation.
