Tekniplaz Delivers Medical Injection Mould Tool Ahead of Schedule

UK injection mould toolmaker and precision engineering specialist Tekniplaz has completed and delivered a technically demanding injection mould tool for a medical cap application ahead of schedule, combining hydraulic unscrewing, hardened stainless steel inserts and DLC-coated running components within a compact single-cavity design.

The tool has been engineered to produce a medical cap featuring an internal thread. To release the moulded component without damaging the thread geometry, it incorporates a hydraulic unscrewing mechanism driven by a VEGA inboard hydraulic cylinder.

The system rotates the threaded core before the component is ejected, allowing the internal thread to be formed accurately as part of the injection moulding cycle.

The core and cavity inserts have been manufactured from fully hardened 1.2083 stainless steel, providing the corrosion resistance, wear resistance and dimensional stability required for long-term production.

Diamond-like carbon, commonly known as DLC, coating has also been applied to the tool’s running components. The coating helps to reduce friction and lubrication requirements while supporting consistent mechanical operation.

The tool also incorporates components supplied by VEGA Cylinders, HASCO Hasenclever GmbH + Co KG and Hales Tool & Die Ltd.
