Announcing Plastics Live – Positive Futures for a Changing Industry

Plastics Live launches today, a unique business-to-business event dedicated to all who manufacture in plastic. The event will take place at the Coventry Building Society Arena (formerly Ricoh Arena), in Coventry, the UK’s manufacturing heartland, July 5-6, 2022.

Plastics Live will offer positive opportunities to a sector that has been much beleaguered in the last few years, but which has recently proved its mettle in confronting the COVID-19 pandemic by supplying design and manufacturing solutions throughout many vital supply chains.

The Plastics Live event will include workshops, conferences and exhibitions, and will also showcase a first-class and comprehensive range of plastic technologies.

Scott Colman, Plastics Live Director, says: “We now feel that it’s time to move forward and to put the best of the plastics sector on show. We want to properly illustrate all of the positive things that the industry is capable of, and above all, to communicate how plastics can be a unique and indispensable benefit both for our environment and for our global society.”

Colman emphasises that the model for Plastics Live has been researched and created by plastics industry professionals, ensuring that the event will curate and promote the best that the industry can offer.

“Plastics Live is for forward-thinking plastic manufacturers who are focussed and committed on their future,” says Colman. “Our conference and workshop sessions will offer our visitors advice on how to future-proof business, how to use technology to improve output, save energy and the environment, in turn, create the factories of the future.”

PlastikMedia, providers of industry-leading news and digital services, will support Plastics Live as the event’s headline media partner. Promotional coverage will include previews, insights and exclusive interviews in the run-up to the event, on the show floor in 2022 and beyond.

PlastikMedia’s Managing Director Carl Futcher comments: “We’re delighted to be working alongside Plastics Live to promote this new, unique event in the plastics industry. I feel that the format brings something entirely new to the industry, particularly as it highlights the key topics and technologies that are becoming very significant to our manufacturers.

“PlastikCity and PlastikMedia are very future-focused, and our ethos is all about promoting the best in the industry, so our partnership with Plastics Live is a great fit. We’re excited to see what July 2022 brings!”

Plastics Live will bring the sector’s most important manufacturing themes into the foreground and limelight. For example, the event will directly tackle the plastics-in-the-environment theme that has so dominated the media for at least the past five years through Sustainable Plastics Live, which will help tackle the entire spectrum of environmental plastic issues and solutions. Material designers and specifiers, recycling & waste management companies, plastics processors, local and central authorities and legislators will all be part of this event – in addition to suppliers who offer a full range of plastics recycling machinery, recycling equipment, suppliers of reclaimed plastics, and additive suppliers.

The much-discussed topic of 3D printing and Additive Manufacturing (AM) will all be showcased under the banner of AMPLAS.

This part of Plastics Live will display and help educate some of the trends in AM. As the technology, materials, and software continue to advance, additive manufacturing has — and will continue to — become an increasingly viable option for manufacturing end-use parts. Plastics Live will show visitors how additive manufacturing and injection moulding are becoming complementary technologies.

Industry 4.0 in Plastics and Industrial Transformation will demonstrate to visitors how ‘smart,’ and connected operations are revolutionising the factory shop floor – improving product quality, reducing costs, increasing process transparency and delivering customer orders on time and right-first-time. Industry 4.0 is simply another term for preparing for the future in the most practical way possible.

Colman concludes, “Plastics Live is all about innovation and future-focussed. Those businesses who prefer to stand still will not be comfortable with our format. Those leaning forward will benefit and prosper!”
