Avalon Plastics has taken a step towards improving its efficiency and sustainability at its Glastonbury site, with the facility’s rooftop solar panels recently being cleaned and prepared for the summer months.
The factory previously used around 4 million kilowatt hours of electricity each year, prompting Avalon to explore ways to reduce its energy usage and environmental impact. This led to the installation of solar panels across its 75,000-square-foot factory roof, helping to reduce the overall environmental impact of the business by an estimated 20%.
The work ensures the panels can operate at peak performance as daylight hours increase, helping the company generate the maximum amount of clean, renewable energy from its existing infrastructure. By maintaining the solar panel system, Avalon Plastics is reducing its environmental impact while continuing to deliver dependable, high-quality plastic injection moulded products for its customers.
With 41 injection moulding presses ranging from 35T to 1500T, Avalon Plastics continues to invest in the people, equipment and infrastructure needed to support reliable, efficient and responsible manufacturing.
By maintaining its solar panel system, Avalon Plastics can maximise renewable energy generation, reduce reliance on grid electricity and continue improving the sustainability of its 24/7 manufacturing operation.
