BILLION Showcases Smart Multi-Injection Moulding at K 2025

High technology, sustainability, and innovation in multi-injection are at the heart of the three applications presented by BILLION at this year’s K trade fair in Düsseldorf.

In collaboration with French injection specialist MIHB, BILLION is presenting a fully automated cell-based around a 100% electric 3k 300T SELECT press. Plastics processors are invited to “reduce their carbon footprint” thanks to the technologies implemented by BILLION and MIHB: a fully electric injection moulding machine, combining expertise in overmoulding and sandwich moulding processes, as well as in-mould labelling (IML), all in a single machine cycle.

In addition, the beach rackets produced are made from more than 90% recycled PP materials, and the finished parts are 100% recyclable. The final combination offers exceptional durability, a perfect example of the circular economy.

Implemented on a 200 T bi-material machine from the all-electric SELECT range, the second demonstration is a transfer overmoulding application. It uses V-injection units configuration, the BILLION bi-material standard that has made its reputation.

This allows a robot to be installed to perform the transfer and deposit. The PERNOUD group supplies the Multitube tooling. The Dixit4 controller and its intuitive programming make it easy to perform all the complex kinematics of the mould.

The third machine on display is a SELECT 150 T all-electric press with tip tooling from SMP (medical part). The automation aspect was developed in partnership with ACTEMIUM. Process consistency, high speed, and precision come together to meet the requirements of the medical sector.

All the machines on display are controlled using the DIXIT 4 control system, a new-generation control unit equipped with EasyPilot. This intelligent system gives users access to EasyControl, a self-adaptive function that adjusts to changes in viscosity.

It also offers Billion predictive maintenance features, fully equipped to integrate peripherals via OPC-UA interfaces.

In the same vein of intelligent machines, Billion’s partner CT-IPC is presenting the SynQBox,  a production settings application connected to the machines at the BILLON booth. With its intuitive and user-friendly interface, this software/hardware solution based on an understanding of material transformation, offers, among other things, virtual quality control based on AI.
