Borche Machinery UK is delighted to announce that long-established trade moulder Chess Plastics Ltd has placed an order for two new Borche BU800-tonne injection moulding machines during Interplas 2026 at the NEC, Birmingham.
The significant investment marks the continuation of a highly successful 10-year partnership between the two companies, bringing the total number of Borche machines purchased by Chess Plastics to ten. The order at Interplas 2026 echoes a poignant piece of company history for Chess Plastics. Nearly five decades ago, at Interplas 1977, Malcolm Olden, father of current Managing Director Glyn Olden, placed an order for the company’s very first two new moulding machines, a tradition of forward-thinking exhibition investment that continues today with the next generation of leadership.
Originally established in 1968, Droitwich-based Chess Plastics operates a robust trade moulding facility serving critical market sectors including Automotive, Aerospace, Construction, and Industrial. The business has been actively expanding its manufacturing footprint, infrastructure, and automation capabilities. This latest acquisition of two 800-tonne two-platen machines will seamlessly integrate into their existing fleet of 22 moulding machines, which spans capacities up to 1400 tonnes.
By investing in Borche’s latest-generation BU series, Chess Plastics benefits from advanced two-platen technology. This design offers a significantly compact footprint relative to its clamping force, allowing the business to maximise floor space efficiency and increase high-tonnage capacity without requiring building extensions. Equipped with Borche’s signature servo-hydraulic drive systems, the new machines will also support Chess Plastics’ ongoing commitment to manufacturing efficiency and reducing operational energy costs.
Terry O’Reilly, Sales Director at Borche UK, commented: “We are incredibly proud to be associated with Chess Plastics as a valued supply partner. I have known the company and the Olden family for many years. The purchase of these two new Borche BU800-tonne machines brings the total to ten Borche machines that Chess Plastics has invested in over the last decade, reinforcing our commitment to supporting their impressive growth with reliable, energy-efficient machinery and local engineering support.”
With these two new flagship Borche machines and a continuous program of advanced staff training, Chess Plastics is well-positioned to remain at the absolute forefront of the UK trade moulding industry.
