Notice of the Passing of Simon Wrighton

It is with great sadness that we inform the plastics industry of the untimely passing of friend and colleague Simon Wrighton, Sales Director at Arburg UK Ltd. Simon, aged 59, passed away on Friday 23rd of September, after a long battle with lung cancer.

As you can imagine, everyone within the ARBURG family is deeply saddened by this news. Simon started his working career in the plastics industry in 1981, selling used blow moulding, extrusion, vacuum forming and injection moulding machinery before joining ARBURG in December 1997.

Simon worked for ARBURG for over twenty-five years, joining as Salesman for the Western area, before progressing to Sales Manager and then, in 2011, being appointed Sales Director at ARBURG Ltd. This role entailed overseeing all machinery sales activities within the UK and Ireland.

Throughout his long career with ARBURG,  Simon earned tremendous respect amongst colleagues, customers, suppliers and competitors alike. Simon was very well known and trusted for his depth of knowledge of ARBURG technologies and applications and his infectious sense of humour.

In his spare time, Simon enjoyed many outdoor pursuits, including camping and hiking and also riding his motorcycle. He was heavily involved as a leader in the local scouts and was always known for making time to help his friends and colleagues.

Simon leaves behind Lesley, his wife of thirty-eight years and two grown-up sons, Rich and Will. Please keep them in your thoughts. He will be sorely missed.

Simon’s funeral is being held on Monday 17th October near Bristol. If any colleagues from the industry would like to attend, please contact sales_uk@arburg.com to confirm, as attendance may be limited.

Charity donations can be made in Simon’s name to Cancer Research UK. If you wish to contribute, please visit: https://fundraise.cancerresearchuk.org/page/simon-wrighton

Rest in peace, Simon.
