Pentagon Plastics Invests in New Machines to Improve Energy and Production Efficiency

Horsham-based injection moulder Pentagon Plastics is investing in two Haitian Zeres V injection moulding machines as part of its efforts to reduce energy consumption, improve production efficiency and expand manufacturing capacity.
The investment follows the recent implementation of a comprehensive Environmental Management System (EMS), which helped the company identify opportunities to improve both its environmental performance and manufacturing capabilities.
Two ageing, energy-intensive injection moulding machines will be replaced with modern Haitian Zeres V models. Together, the new machines are expected to save an estimated 53,031 kWh of electricity each year, while providing additional capacity to support Pentagon’s future growth.
The first machine, a Haitian Zeres V 90-tonne press, is scheduled to arrive in August 2026. It will replace a long-serving Sandretto Micro 50-tonne machine and provide greater process control for a specific range of high-volume medical components. The larger machine will also expand Pentagon’s production capabilities, with preparations already underway to accommodate its increased footprint on the shop floor.
A second machine, a Haitian Zeres V 60-tonne press, is due to arrive in early 2027. This will replace the company’s existing Sandretto Micro 30-tonne press and provide a further increase in production capacity.
Pentagon acknowledged that investment decisions require careful consideration in the current economic climate. However, the company is continuing to take a long-term approach, investing in technology intended to strengthen its manufacturing operations, improve sustainability and enhance the service provided to customers.
