‘Connectivity is the key to the plastics processing of the future,’ says Barry Hill, Managing Director of Wittmann Battenfeld (WIBA) UK.
‘Industry 4.0 (or the Smart Factory concept) opened the door and Wittmann 4.0 is a practical outcome that simplies shop floor operational life and makes all processes more secure.’
Consequently, the Wittmann Battenfeld team will be sharing its Industry 4.0 know-how for plastics in a free upcoming seminar and equipment demonstration this April 2018. For ease of booking and scheduling two identical daily sessions will be offered at WIBA UK HQ in Wellingborough – Tuesday April 24 and Wednesday April 25. There will be ample scope to work with the injection moulding technology as well as all of Wittmann’s technology in automation, materials handling, drying and temperature control.
WIBA UK customers here have been able to source materials, handling, drying and temperature control units in the knowledge that all of these plastics processing units will seamlessly interact together via the B8 control and interface supplied with today’s Wittmann Battenfeld injection moulding machines.
‘The commercial convenience of our one-stop approach for plastics processors is well known,’ says Hill. ‘And now the 4.0 plug and play convenience of the control system gives companies an added incentive to keep all processing equipment under one roof, working off the same control panel and the same Internet router.’
April 1, 2018 this year marks the 10th anniversary of the Wittmann acquisition of Battenfeld and its injection moulding technology.
Since that time there has been a constant reinvention and innovation of Wittmann product innovation in all areas; moulding machines of all sizes, materials handling and automation. Last year’s Fakuma ’17 unveiled several new product launches in all technology areas.
Hill notes that ‘the key to our automation innovation is all about understanding the specifics of customer need and is less about increasing complexity than reducing it. Wittmann 4.0 and our whole approach to process control is testament to that fact.’
