Protool Plastics Group Increases Recycling Capacity

The Protool Plastics Group has continued its investment in recycling equipment by expanding the recycling cell within its recently expanded Manchester site.

The Protool Plastics Group, an injection moulding group, based in Fareham and Manchester, manufacture injection moulded components and assemblies for the UK, EU and worldwide markets.

The group has recently invested heavily in recycling equipment and contamination-free storage systems to produce high-quality recycled polymers for use on consumer and industrial products. Materials are now recycled, weighed and bagged on-site to protect them from dirt and contamination and then stored for customer use.

These materials are not currently available for general sale and will instead be kept for existing customers or prospective customers to use as material options for their moulding projects carried out at the Protool facility. Incorporation of high-quality recycled material is particularly relevant in the current climate, with the plastics packaging tax on the horizon and sustainability being high on the national agenda.

Current materials available on site are as follows:

  • PP – natural to suit any colours
  • PP – black
  • ABS – black
  • ABS – compounded to any colour
  • PC – mixed white
