PTA UK Ltd, in partnership with Frigosystem, has successfully supplied and installed a high-performance industrial cooling solution incorporating the RPE502 RACA PLUS ENERGY chiller alongside a DC V-type dry cooler, delivering enhanced efficiency, sustainability, and long-term cost savings for the customer.
The self-contained RACA Plus Energy chiller is engineered to deliver 170 kW at 15°C process temperature in 25°C ambient conditions and 150 kW at 15°C in 35°C ambient conditions, ensuring reliable performance across varying operating environments. Designed for demanding industrial applications, the unit features an integrated process pump with an inverter drive, a recirculating pump for evaporator stability, advanced energy optimisation controls, and remote-control functionality for operator convenience. The inverter-driven pump technology enables precise flow regulation, reduced energy consumption during part-load operation, and stable process temperature control.
Advanced Free Cooling with Zero Water Consumption
Complementing the chiller is the DC V-type dry cooler, designed for outdoor installation and dry operation. Its V-type configuration maximises heat exchange efficiency through axial fan technology while eliminating the need for water usage. This approach delivers zero water consumption, reduced maintenance requirements, no legionella risk, improved environmental sustainability, and lower operational costs.
The installation also incorporates the RC Option remote-control system, allowing convenient monitoring and management of both the chiller and free cooler to ensure optimal performance throughout the year.
Free Cooling Analysis Demonstrates Significant Running Cost Reduction
A comprehensive free cooling analysis was conducted at the quotation stage, supported by detailed plant layout drawings and a full breakdown of projected running costs. The integrated system operates across three intelligent modes: mechanical cooling during high ambient temperatures, hybrid operation during mid-season conditions, and full free cooling during low ambient periods.
During colder months, the dry cooler allows the refrigeration compressors to reduce or completely cease operation, significantly lowering electrical demand. Estimated annual energy savings of 30–45% are achievable depending on seasonal conditions and operating hours, delivering substantial long-term cost reductions.
Complete Turnkey Installation
The project comprised the complete turnkey supply and installation of the RACA Plus Energy chiller and DCVM V-type dry cooler, including the fabrication and installation of new stainless-steel pipework arranged in a balanced ring main configuration to optimise hydraulic performance. An integrated control valve system was implemented to enable fully automatic free cooling operation, enhancing seasonal energy efficiency.
The installation was delivered by PTA UK’s experienced pipefitting engineers, ensuring precision execution and adherence to high engineering standards. Comprehensive plant layout drawings were issued at the quotation stage, providing technical clarity and performance assurance, alongside flexible payment solutions tailored to the client’s operational requirements.
