R A Labone Invests in New ENGEL Machine Boosting Medical Moulding Capacity

R A Labone has taken delivery of a new 220-tonne ENGEL injection moulding machine to support an upcoming project for one of its medical customers.

The machine will carry out the initial moulding operation before the components are transferred to a second machine positioned alongside it for overmoulding. This layout will help maximise efficiency, reduce component handling and support a robust manufacturing process.

As part of the investment, R A Labone will also extend its medical moulding environment, adding to its existing Class 7 and Class 8 cleanroom injection moulding capabilities.

The tooling is expected to arrive next month, allowing the company to begin T0 trials and take the next step towards production.

The investment follows R A Labone’s recent site expansion and further strengthens its medical manufacturing capabilities and commitment to delivering high-quality solutions for its customers.

Part of a privately owned European manufacturing group, R A Labone provides injection moulding, insert moulding, overmoulding and metal pressing services. The company operates machines ranging from 25 to 1,100 tonnes and holds ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 13485 accreditations.
