WITTMANN Launches Airmould Starter Package Plus with Integrated Pressure Generator

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

WITTMANN has announced an enhanced Airmould starter package, simplifying access to internal gas pressure technology for injection moulders. The new Airmould Starter Package Plus now includes an integrated pressure generation unit, giving processors a complete, cost‑effective entry point into lightweight, high‑quality gas‑assisted moulding.

Airmould internal gas pressure technology saves raw material, reduces part weight, and minimises warpage, sink marks, and shrinkage. In this way, the injection moulding technology combines high surface quality with cost efficiency and sustainability.

To enable quick and easy startup of internal gas pressure technology, WITTMANN offers all necessary modules in a cost-effective package. Each Airmould starter package contains a central unit for 2 pressure control modules, an IoT-compliant pressure control module, the manual control unit and now also a pressure generator – a novelty in the Airmould starter package plus. All variants come with thorough application technology counselling by specialist engineers from WITTMANN. With the help of simulation and feasibility studies, the parts are examined thoroughly to determine whether they are suitable for internal gas pressure technology.

Whenever a decision is made in favour of internal gas pressure, WITTMANN will take care of both the equipment’s layout and its start-up. In this way, users will benefit from the WITTMANN application technology specialists’ many years of experience and profound injection moulding expertise. Existing production processes can also be adapted quickly and easily, since in many cases the moulds can be used for Airmould without requiring any changes. Typical fields of application are automobile components such as handles, gardening equipment and technical components with bulges.

For Airmould internal gas pressure injection moulding, nitrogen gas is injected into a partly filled cavity. The pressurised gas forms a bubble at the centre of the melt, which counteracts shrinkage contraction on the outside and thus eliminates sink marks. By reducing the quantity of plastic material and simultaneously enlarging the hollow space at the centre, lightweight components can be produced effectively with short cycle times and attractive surfaces.

Compatible with machines of all brands

To spread the benefit from internal gas pressure technology across many different fields of application, Airmould from WITTMANN offers extreme flexibility. The packages have a modular design. All technology modules can be used via Euromap 62 on any injection moulding machine regardless of its brand or model. When connected with an injection moulding machine from WITTMANN, Airmold can be completely integrated into the work cell via Wittmann 4.0 and operated from the injection moulding machine’s display.

WITTMANN’s concept of “everything from a single source” even includes nitrogen generation. The N2easy nitrogen generators developed and manufactured by WITTMANN extract nitrogen gas from the ambient atmosphere and supply it simultaneously to several consumers. N2easy already pays off from a daily nitrogen consumption rate of just one gas bottle.

WITTMANN Expert Day in September

Interested processors are invited to try out the potential of Airmould at the technical labs of the WITTMANN facilities. At the SKZ Centre in Würzburg/Germany, WITTMANN injection moulding machines with Airmould technology are also available for application technology testing and training.

Mark your calendar now for the WITTMANN Expert Day about foam injection moulding and internal gas pressure technology on 10th September 2026 at WITTMANN in Meinerzhagen/Germany.
