Aamir Chaudhry, Director of Operations at Borough Limited, has requalified as a VDA 6.3 Process Auditor, upgrading from the VDA 6.3:2016 standard to the latest VDA 6.3:2023 edition. He achieved an impressive perfect score of 100% in the process.
But what is VDA 6.3?
VDA 6.3 is the internationally recognised process audit standard published by the Verband der Automobilindustrie, the German Association of the Automotive Industry. It provides a structured framework for auditing manufacturing and supply chain processes, helping organisations identify risks and evaluate process capability, whilst driving continuous improvement across the full production lifecycle.
Widely adopted across the global automotive supply chain and beyond, VDA 6.3 is regarded as one of the most rigorous and comprehensive process audit methodologies available.
Certified Process Auditors are qualified to assess whether production processes meet the standard’s demanding requirements, from planning and procurement through to customer delivery, providing manufacturers and their supply chain partners with independent, expert verification of process quality.
The 2023 revision introduced a series of updated requirements, reflecting advances in manufacturing complexity, digital integration and supply chain resilience. Requalification from the 2016 to the 2023 standard is a substantive undertaking, requiring auditors to demonstrate both updated knowledge and applied competence.
Aamir Chaudhry, Director of Operations, Borough Limited, commented: “The VDA 6.3:2023 requalification introduced several new requirements, which were challenging but rewarding.
“Through focus and preparation, I was able to successfully meet and exceed the standards. This certification reinforces my ability to assess and support process excellence, quality, and continuous improvement across operations at Borough Limited.”
Strengthening internal capability
For Borough, the achievement carries real operational weight. With VDA 6.3:2023 certification now held in-house, the business has strengthened its capacity to conduct rigorous internal process audits.
Borough can assess, benchmark and improve its own manufacturing operations against the same standard applied across the global automotive supply chain, which remains an important market for its chrome-plated, injection-moulded plastic components.
It is a development that reflects the Borough’s broader commitment to quality and professional excellence; one that directly benefits customers by embedding a higher level of independent process scrutiny into the business itself.
With the certificate now officially issued, Borough is well-positioned to continue raising the bar across its operations and to offer customers the assurance that quality is not just a promise, but a process ingrained within the business.
