Expert Talk with Bausano Technicians: Appointment at K 2022 for a Specific Consultation

On the occasion of K 2022, Bausano provides the skills of its pool of technicians in the fields of recycling, pipe extrusion, screw design, and compounding. Customers will be able to benefit from specific advice at the stand (Hall 16, Stand B70) and discover the innovative patent pending Smart Energy System together with the Bausano Team. A solution for sustainable development and maximum energy savings. 

Specifically, the Smart Energy System for induction heating of the barrel fulfills the requirements of optimising production processes in the extrusion of plastic materials. Unlike traditional resistance systems, heating takes place without contact by an alternating electromagnetic field: a faster and more efficient method that ensures maximum performance while guaranteeing energy savings of up to 35%. Simple installation and maintenance are additional benefits to the significant reduction in component wear in favour of a longer machine life cycle. In particular, this is an integrated thermoregulation system consisting of an extrusion barrel, forced air-cooling induction coils, and a temperature sensor. The PLC with specific software completes the solution.

The Smart Energy System will be on display at the fair to discover its advantages, both on a twin screw extruder of the Nextmover range and the single screw E-GO R – the new technology dedicated to the re-granulation of plastic waste. Visitors will be able to go into the merits of this technology and discover all of the technical aspects of the field of extrusion, thanks to the transversal knowledge of Bausano experts. Among these are Marco Masiero, Recycling and Post Industrial Reprocess Specialist; Massimiliano Fenili, Pipe Extrusion Design and Process Expert; Alessandro Ruotolo, Screw Designer, and Process Engineer and Fabrizio Rampone, Compounding Specialist & Extrusion Technician.

Marco Masiero has a solid background in the field of recycled plastic resins (PVC, HDPE, LDPE, PP, PE, and PA) and the study of new materials and polymeric structures for the regeneration of industrial waste. By virtue of his consolidated experience in the phases of feasibility analysis and product industrialisation, Marco Masiero is the ideal interlocutor to enhance the use of recycled materials, including highly contaminated post-consumer waste, achieving savings on overall production costs.

Massimiliano Fenili has capitalised on a high level of expertise in the extrusion technology for pipes and, particularly, in the development of extrusion heads for HDPE, LDPE, PP, and PVC pipes and the design of single screw extruders with L/D 37 and L/D 40 ratio with a spiral bushing. Thanks to his experience in managing extrusion processes for single and multilayer pipes, with a diameter ranging from 5 mm to 1200 mm, Massimiliano Fenili is the reference point for optimising pipe production lines according to the intended performance. Specifically, he studies how to increase pipe quality through the perfect synchronisation of the production parameters and the extruder components in favour of an overall cost reduction.

Alessandro Ruotolo, who specialised in the design of screws for rigid and plasticised PVC, polyolefins, WPC, TPR, EVA, ABS, PC, PMMA, and TPU, has essential skills in analysing extrusion parameters, such as screw speed, the temperature of the heated areas of the barrel and the cooling bench. Together with Alessandro Ruotolo, it is possible to explore the different types of screws and their advantages and disadvantages in the various fields of application, as well as carry out practical troubleshooting analysis to reduce downtime and ensure high product quality over time.

Lastly, Fabrizio Rampone is a technology specialist for compounding additives, biopolymers, and recycled and filling materials. His consultancy solves critical issues due to contamination, melt fracture, and instability. His know-how allows him to indicate the right combination between the extruder configuration, the processes, and the response variables, such as the time spent in the extruder and the specific mechanical energy. Factors must be considered to obtain the compound with the intended properties.
