James Hines has rejoined the Sumitomo (SHI) Demag UK & Ireland team. The new Business Development Manager brings with him over three decades of processing and technical knowledge that he will use to put customers first and prove the company’s lifetime commitment to injection moulding precision.

By welcoming James Hines back into the UK team, Sumitomo (SHI) Demag is showing it means business when it comes to helping customers. James brings several decades of real-world experience, including how to ensure manufacturers are making full use of all their technology and that it is delivering what they need day in and day out.

As the new Business Development Manager, James is focused on gathering reliable data and insights to help customers make the best processing decisions for their businesses. He will be available to give expert advice, guide improvements, run training sessions and oversee sales. Additionally, he is on hand to support customers with mould trials, ensuring they are rigorous and align to each customer’s needs.

The cornerstone of this business development strategy is trust. “In a world where many deals happen online, Sumitomo (SHI) Demag stands out by spending time with customers, talking face to face and building genuine relationships. Buying a machine isn’t a one-off transaction; it’s the start of a partnership that lasts,” comments James Hines.

His immediate focus will be to reconnect with clients who have been part of the company’s story in the UK and Ireland for decades.

This relationship-driven approach is backed by an unparalleled depth of experience. Having worked on nearly every generation and model of Sumitomo (SHI) Demag machinery throughout his career, James possesses a unique historical perspective on how processing equipment has evolved.

He calls today’s all-electric injection moulding machines “truly impressive”. “The IntElect, S, and PAC-E series are reliable and easy to use, both qualities that customers value highly,” says James.

Simple data, real results

“The landscape of machine acquisitions continues to change rapidly. Customers today want proof, not promises. They ask for clear facts. For example, how a Sumitomo (SHI) Demag machine can save 20% on energy compared to others. This makes a big difference to operational costs and the bottom line. Simple data and real results beat vague claims every time,” comments James.

The partnership between Sumitomo (SHI) Demag and its customers represents a commitment that lasts.  “The company sticks by its customers, helping them stay productive and efficient for years to come. That’s the real value of Sumitomo (SHI) Demag. As a team, we are here to support customers and keep production lines running smoothly.”

Customers can continue to count on a highly skilled and talented team. This includes Nick Stockton, who continues to lead the maintenance and engineering team, and Marcus Gill, who provides bespoke OPC UA compatible software solutions for non-standard and legacy applications.

“I am absolutely thrilled to welcome James back into our business during such an exciting time. Our upcoming move to a new HQ and engineering facility in Leighton Buzzard will serve as a central hub for knowledge sharing, integration projects and frequent customer visits. Coupled with our Limerick facility, customers benefit from localised support and customisations,” adds Managing Director Dave Raine.
