Moldwel Products is marking a new chapter as Managing Director Andrew Penn retires after more than 35 years with the business. His son, Sam Penn, succeeds him, taking Moldwel into its third generation of family leadership.
Throughout his time at Moldwel, Andrew Penn has helped shape the company into the trusted plastic injection moulding business it is today. His dedication, practical knowledge and commitment to customers have played an important part in building lasting relationships and maintaining the quality and personal service at the heart of the company.
Moldwel would like to thank Andrew for his years of hard work and wish him a long and happy retirement. However, they suspect he will still be in the background for a long time to come.
Building on Their Heritage
A family business since 1972, Moldwel has always valued a straightforward approach: understanding their customers’ needs, delivering quality products and being a supplier they can depend on.
As Sam Penn takes on the role of Managing Director, those values will continue to guide the business. Alongside a fresh management team, he will build on the foundations established by previous generations while bringing new ideas, energy and ambition to Moldwel’s future.
Moving into its third generation is a proud milestone for the family and the wider team. It provides an opportunity to draw on decades of manufacturing experience while exploring new ways to support customers and develop the business.
Investing in the Future
The new management team is focused on moving the business forward through investment in modern technology, improved processes and new ways of working. Their aim is to strengthen their manufacturing capabilities, improve efficiency and make working with Moldwel even easier for both existing and new customers.
This includes exploring opportunities to modernise how they plan production, communicate with customers and support their team, while continuing to deliver the care and attention that customers expect from a family business.
This approach to the future builds on the work Moldwel already undertakes across a wide range of industries, where precision, consistency and reliable service are essential.
Supporting a Wide Range of Industries
Today, Moldwel manufactures a diverse range of plastic products and components for customers across several industries. Their work includes more than 80 different medical products, from instrument trays and theatre bowls to precision medicine measures, supporting an established supplier to the NHS.
They also manufacture components for fire extinguishers, emergency lighting and fire suppression systems, including the production and assembly of base units used in hospitals and commercial buildings.
For the lighting industry, they produce bases, fittings and diffusers, using specialist materials to meet individual product requirements. For the lock industry, they manufacture an extensive range of components, from small, precision-moulded parts through to larger housing units. Moldwel also offers an array of over-moulding and brass inserting services.
Alongside injection moulding capabilities, they offer post-production assembly and advice on tooling, helping customers take their projects from initial requirements through to finished products. This breadth of experience allows Moldwel to support a variety of manufacturing needs and build lasting working relationships with customers.
Looking Ahead Together
With more than five decades of experience behind them and a new generation looking ahead, Moldwel is excited about the opportunities to come. Under Sam’s leadership, their focus remains on quality, personal service and practical solutions, supported by a commitment to investing in the business and its future.
They look forward to continuing their longstanding partnerships, welcoming new customers and building the next chapter together.
As Moldwel enters this next chapter, they welcome enquiries for new projects, existing mouldings and additional production capacity. Whether you are developing a new product or reviewing your current supply arrangements, their team would be pleased to discuss how they can support your business.
