BBC Countryfile Features Protool Plastics Bird House Mouldings
Bird Brick Houses is based in East Sussex and their ingeniously designed boxes feature cut brick slips from a building’s own wall.
These are then bonded onto injection moulded parts produced at The Protool Plastics Group (Fareham). The design produces a product that blends seamlessly into any building.
The boxes are manufactured from 100% recycled polypropylene further enhancing their environmental profile.
The end product is fantastic for replacing much needed biodiversity in development areas where green belt habitat such as hedgerows have been lost to our precious native and visiting birds and bats.

Jenny from Bird Brick Houses commented “Our boxes are gratefully used by House Sparrows, Swifts, Starlings and Bats (among other species) and are currently being fitted in a new wing of Great Ormond Street Hospital. They will also be used in Transport for London’s Northern Line extension structures. The mould tool specification allows us to adapt the standard box in our workshop to accommodate render and stonework finishes.”
The Protool Plastics Group processes over 10 tonnes of recycled polypropylene per week and is therefore well placed to be competitive on relevant applications.
