Broadway is proud to announce that it has retained its EcoVadis Platinum Sustainability Rating for 2026. Following its first Platinum award in 2025, this consecutive achievement means Broadway remains firmly within the top 1% of companies assessed by EcoVadis worldwide. Building on last year’s success, Broadway’s overall score increased by 1% point to reach an outstanding 87%. Broadway leads the way by being the only UK masterbatch manufacturer to hold this accolade.

Broadway’s Platinum Rating represent the highest level of recognition from EcoVadis. It reflects a significant trajectory of continuous improvement, progressing from Silver ratings in 2022 and 2023, Gold in 2024, to back-to-back Platinum in 2025 and 2026. A key driver for this year’s increased score was a substantial improvement in sustainability reporting, achieved through building a more comprehensive data set, with alignment to the rigorous SASB (Sustainability Accounting Standards Board) reporting standards.

Environmental Performance & Carbon Goals

Broadway continues to demonstrate exceptional environmental stewardship, anchored by its ISO 14001:2015 certification – an internationally recognised standard for environmental management systems. The company also endorses the United Nations Global Compact, aligning its operational policies with global sustainability principles.

As detailed in Broadway’s 2026 ESG Report, the company has established clear carbon reduction goals: aiming to achieve carbon neutrality for Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2030, and reaching full net zero across Scopes 1, 2, and 3 by 2050. The report highlights several key environmental milestones on this journey:

  • Energy usage and onsite generation of solar- Throughout 2025, over 81% of the company’s overall energy use came from renewable sources, supported by EU Guarantees of Origin (EUGOs) and significant onsite generation. Broadway generated 624 MWh of solar electricity via its 3,400 square metre solar panel installation on the roof of its Suffolk factory. Self-generated solar energy provided almost one-third of Broadway’s total electricity demand, with 521 MWh used directly on-site and an additional 103 MWh of solar energy returned to the national grid. This onsite generation alone mitigated 107 tonnes of CO2e –the equivalent of taking 45 average family cars off the road for a year.
  • Verified carbon data and supply chain tracking- Broadway commissions a full Scope 1–3 carbon footprint assessment annually, externally verified by Maltdoctor Ltd in accordance with the GHG Protocol and ISO 14046-3:2019 standards. While operational emissions (Scopes 1 and 2) remain comparatively low, Scope 3 emissions accounted for over 90% of Broadway’s total carbon footprint across its wider value chain in 2025. Broadway has adopted a sustainable procurement policy designed to uphold high environmental and ethical standards across its supply chain. In May 2026, Broadway began transitioning its forklift fleet to a 100% BioLPG blend, which offers projected Scope 1 fuel emissions reductions of up to 99.86%.
  • Zero waste to landfill and material recovery- Broadway maintained a record of 0% waste sent to landfill across 2023, 2024, and 2025. In the latest reporting year, Broadway successfully recovered 56,802 kg of total waste and handled 166,464 kg of non-hazardous materials. Seeking continuous improvement, the company has an ongoing goal to reduce general waste by 5% (per kg of product they produce) throughout 2026, compared to 2025 levels.
  • Internal recycling and circularity- The company reports that internal recycling and reduction initiatives have saved over 367 tonnes of plastic from being scrapped between 2019 and 2025. This includes an optimised cleaning processes to reduce purge material volume, alongside the reprocessing of off-spec material into recycled black rotational moulding powder.

“Retaining EcoVadis Platinum for a second consecutive year is a significant achievement for us. As a medium-sized, family-owned manufacturer, this independent recognition of our efforts means a great deal. We don’t have a dedicated sustainability department; our progress is a result of cross-functional commitment and practical action from all areas of our operations.

This year’s assessment saw a substantial improvement in our sustainability reporting, particularly through the alignment of our disclosures with SASB reporting standards. The result is a testament to the hard work invested in developing robust policies and processes, alongside building a comprehensive sustainability data set. We are extremely proud of this outcome and remain committed to driving continuous improvement across all areas of ESG performance.”

The retention the EcoVadis Platinum Sustainability Rating is a milestone that reinforces Broadway’s continued dedication to responsible practices. It maintains a high benchmark for other businesses striving to make a difference within the plastic manufacturing sector.
