Rachel Aitken, one of Hardie Polymers’ account managers, will take to the stage at Interplas this summer as part of the event’s educational programme.
Her presentation, Reprocessed polymers in practice: From challenge to competitive advantage, will take place on Tuesday, 2nd June, 12:45–13:15 hrs at the NEC Birmingham.
The shift towards practical, sustainable polymer applications
Rachel’s presentation will explore how the conversation around sustainable polymers is shifting from ambition to practical application. With increasing focus on reducing carbon impact and incorporating recycled content, the focus is no longer on whether to use reprocessed materials, but where they deliver real value. She will highlight how improved quality, consistency and traceability have made recycled polymers a viable option for a wider range of applications.
The session will also examine the key advances that have driven this shift and why material selection must always be guided by performance, regulatory and commercial considerations. Drawing on real-world case studies, Rachel will illustrate where reprocessed grades are already replacing virgin materials across a range of sectors, including automotive and electronics. Importantly, Rachel will address common misconceptions, acknowledging that sustainable materials are not suitable in every scenario. By taking a balanced, informed and collaborative approach, businesses can move beyond theory and use reprocessed polymers to create a genuine competitive advantage.
