Refcool Prepares Plastics Manufacturers for Low-GWP Cooling Regulations

Refcool has launched a focused campaign to help plastics manufacturers move to low-GWP cooling systems ahead of incoming F-Gas restrictions.

From 1 January 2027, new chillers with a rated capacity above 12 kW must use refrigerants with a GWP of less than 750, while units below 12 kW must use refrigerants with a GWP below 150. For moulders that rely on process cooling, this is now an operational requirement rather than an optional upgrade.

Drawing on more than two decades of industrial refrigeration experience, Refcool designs, installs, and maintains energy-efficient systems that support compliance while reducing running costs. Its propane and A2L-based solutions are engineered for typical moulding temperatures and can deliver a return on investment in around five to seven years through improved energy performance.

Refcool’s offering for UK plastics manufacturers includes fast delivery, engineering-led support through system selection and installation, and equipment designed for long service life and ease of maintenance. This reduces downtime risk and helps sites meet both regulatory and ESG targets.

The move to A2Ls and naturals has gone from cautious trial to scaled confidence in three years,” commented a Refcool spokesperson. “The ROI conversation has replaced the safety debate, and we are seeing that shift firsthand.”
