South-Wales based injection moulders Biplas have announced the addition of a new Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) to their facility, improving capabilities for the demanding precision measurement needed for medical device moulding.
The new coordinate measuring machine, a Mitutoyo BX 303, improves Biplas’ measuring capability bed size, X-axis 325mm x Y-axis 300mm x Z-axis – 250mm to an accuracy of 10 microns. The highest level of accuracy is required for the demanding precision injection moulding products of products used in medical devices produced in Biplas’ class-7 cleanroom, night sight components for military systems, automotive wiper systems as well as components used in the electronic and telecommunication industries.
The latest Inspect3D-PRO software is utilised in conjunction with the new CMM, enabling the company to achieve the most demanding inspection requirements possible. With a range of the latest Renishaw probes with sensitive touch-trigger action, the most accurate measuring repeatability is also ensured.
