Quotes in Minutes, Parts in Days with Ricoh

Manufacturing giant Ricoh has moved to make its 3D printing specialism more accessible, by installing an instant quote function on its new-look website, allowing customers to get accurate project costs in minutes.

Ricoh 3D has added the functionality to its recently relaunched website, allowing visitors to get an accurate project cost in minutes and the production process to begin immediately.

It now means building a quote is as simple as uploading an STL file and choosing your printing technology and materials – with a range of guides to help you through the process.

The move further increases the capabilities of Ricoh’s 3D printing services and range of in-house technologies, including selective laser sintering (SLS), high-speed sintering (HSS), multi-jet fusion (MJF), fused deposition modelling (FDM) and injection moulding. The print specialist expanded its European offering last year to provide a turnkey additive manufacturing service – from design to prototype to serial production.

Mark Dickin, Additive Manufacturing & Moulding Engineering Lead at Ricoh AM, said: “We’re delighted to be offering this new functionality to our customers, which will make it easier than ever to obtain a quote for a new project. 3D printing is one of the fastest-growing technologies, so we are determined to make this process as straightforward as possible. It’s now simple, quick, and accurate for users.

Model files can be uploaded in a range of standard CAD formats, which are put through automated analysis, file repair, and validation checks. The instant quote feature is perfect for users with some experience of AM and knowledge of generating model files. The user-friendly interface allows visitors to customise their quote in terms of quantities, materials, and technology to find the perfect fit for their application and price point.

Ricoh also offers expert support, with online guides or engineer consultation for those without the technology or capabilities to provide their own 3D data.

Ricoh’s flexible CAD service means that if you only have 2D CAD data or the physical component – or if even just sketches on a piece of paper – the team can use their industry-leading expertise to assist. Ricoh’s engineers can also offer optimisation advice on any design to ensure it is the best it can be for the AM process.
